So I've been missing for a week, and it's entirely the fault of Dana's bedroom. Removing the wallpaper border proved more difficult than I'd originally anticipated and I spent three days trying to get the nasty glue off the walls so we could paint. The room is done now though, thank goodness, after having stolen a complete week from me. Here are some pictures of me and Jeff's handiwork:
In other news, my wireless keyboard died so I'm using a lame-ass ergonomic keyboard that completely screws up my typing. I have bought a new one so I'll be installing that this morning before getting started on my edits of "The Divine Conquest of Mexico" for Arcane Whispers and "The Hearts of Men", to hopefully get that one ready to send out today. And Jeff's home for another day so that will probably mean going out to lunch this afternoon. It's good to be getting back to work though.
Also, I didn't keep up with my friendslist while I was painting, so if I missed anything important, leave me a note and I'll go check it out.

Because Jeff has decided he needs to stay at work later and I can't start dinner yet....
( And since it's been a while since I've done this, I'm subjecting you all to pictures of one of my dogs (and the nose of the other). )

Morning Star Rising

A bit slow going yesterday because I've been writing some completely new stuff. I decided I needed a little more work up to something and so that's what I was working on yesterday. I hope to finish that part today and get back to rewriting old stuff.

and he brought me back this present:

What a sweetie!

What a sweetie!
A while ago, marshallpayneasked me to post some pictures of my naughty cat, Meg, and given how much she's been on my mind today, after this morning's shenanigans, I decided now was as good a time as any to do it. So here's the beasty who think's she's queen of the house (more like the queen of yacking up on my desk):
She's an orange domestic short-hair, and from what I've been told, she's quite rare, since only 1/3 of orange tabbies are female. I got her from the animal shelter about 7 years ago, and she's quite small, about 7 pounds wet. She'd been abandoned in a house with her mother and brother; the owners just left them behind with no explanation. She was about 4 months old when we got her. For the most part, she's rather good and I enjoy her company, and she doesn't have the pissy attitude some cats are notorious for, and she actually likes to be picked up and held. She's also exceedingly friendly with strangers, so we've never had to tell anyone to not touch her out of fear that she'll bite them.

Yes, I am actually writing today, but I feel like sharing some new pictures of my little baby. She started digging in the flowerbeds yesterday, which means that I need to get as much of my writing done in the morning as I can, before she's worn Fiona out, so I can spend the afternoons taking her and Fiona out for long walks. I also bought a boatload of new toys yesterday, since the ones I had were mostly intended to be inside, for her use when she's in her kennel, hoping to keep her quiet. She doesn't much like tennis balls, doesn't chase them or fetch, though no surprise she likes my raccoon skin cap (I'd had one as a kid, one from Frontierland at Disney World and someone stole it when I was about 13, and so nostalgic ol' me had to buy a new one the moment I saw it in the trading post store in Georgetown about five years ago.). The only other toy in the yard was a nylabone, which she would chew on, but obviously she was getting bored because I caught her three times digging in the yard yesterday. So far no digging today and hopefully the toys will keep her from getting too bored. We bought a nylabone frisbee, a couple more puppy nylabones, a thick rope, a squeaky stick, and a big Kong for Fiona (Lily has a small one and she likes it quite a bit, but I can't leave it out in the yard for I'm afraid that Fiona will swallow it. Lily tries to tackle the big Kong anyway, so that's good for the yard.).
So, without further ado:

So, we'd made plans to go visit with the golden retriever dog I mentioned a couple posts ago. We were to see her on Saturday at noon for supposedly that was the first opportunity for the foster parents to see us. But a half hour before we were to leave, they called to tell us that someone else was adopting the dog. I was a bit irked, since it didn't sound like it was the people that had looked at her the previous week and decided that their son would have too many allergy problems because she was long haired. For all I know it could be, but I was miffed for most of the day since it really sounded to me like they'd made time for someone else to come look at her before us or she was being adopted out without a visit at all. Not that it matters much, and the shelter can chose to adopt out to whoever they wish, but it upset me quite a bit because it seemed so inconsiderate. But I'm over it now.
( Cut for length )
For the last two days, I've been spending a couple hours at night working on the cross-stitch and so thought I'd post a progress picture, for those interested. For comparison, the picture my mom made the pattern from is on the right, so as you can see, I still lots left to do, and once I've finished the bulk of the color, it's probably going to be necessary to add in back-stitching, which the pattern doesn't include. This is considerably harder than the Sea Wolf I finish last year; that one had 5 colors while this one has 25.
