Paradox
No real writing done yesterday. I realized that the beginning of part 4 is a convoluted mess that needs reordering, for I had characters hanging around who should be on the run just because I wanted my protag to go do some stuff and discover some information. I decided there needed to be more compelling reasons for them to remain behind so long and I think the problem resides with how I was ordering the action. I had it so character a shows up, talks about leaving to escape capture and execution, then my protag goes off and does some stuff and finds out some info, goes back and tells character A when he should have been gone long before, character B shows up, then guards show up and protag goes off with them to learn yet more scandalous news before returning to character A&B and saying "Hey, let's all skip town!". Instead it should be one right after the other: A shows up then B shows up then guards and then protag is taken away to learn other things and then returns and they all leave together then. This will involve some chopping up and reordering of stuff from draft 1 before I'll feel comfortable sitting down to rewrite it, so that's the plan for this morning and hopefully that won't take too long and I'll be back on track again.

In other news, my mice had a unwelcome visitor yesterday, namely a field mouse that chewed a hole in my wall and was rubbing noses with them through the cage. I'm a bit concerned it was a male mouse; I'm not sure whether domesticated house mice and field mice can interbreed or not--I've seen some people saying yes on discussion boards, but nothing authoritative. I guess I'll know if one or more of my mice have a litter. I'm also concerned about him spreading diseases to them that might kill them. I've set a trap for the little bastard and I'm hoping to catch him

Ugh. I hate chopping and reordering. On the one hand, it makes things shorter--on the other, it always has me wondering if I put everything back where it should be.

Good luck with the revisions!
