Progress and book goodness

Paradox
Crossed 90k on the NaNo portion yesterday, bringing my total up to 153k, and yep, I still have a ways to go. My protag has been taken back to her uncle's kingdom, to be wedded to her cousin and used as bait to lure her brother into attacking the city to rescue her before he has a large enough army.

Got a new book from Amazon yesterday, and it's totally kicks ass! It's an illustrated book about Aztec warfare, weapons, armor and tactics. It includes photographs of reconstructions of uniforms and weapons, in the materials they would have been originally made in. I totally should have gotten this for you for you birthday [info]aliettedb, because I'm sure you'd find it very useful for your Acatl stories. You can see info about it here, and I believe some of the used dealers ship from the UK, so it probably wouldn't be too expensive to get a copy.

That's a cool looking book!

I took a quick look at the preview pages--kind of gives you an idea what it would have been like, having 100,000 warriors bearing down on you and your little band of Spaniards. Yikes!

Wow.
I've always looked at this series with envy--but I didn't know they'd dealt with the Aztec warriors.

I think my book-buying budget is over the limit for this year (and Matthieu just informed me that I didn't have the right to buy anything until the Christmas period was past and he'd given me my present...), but I'll certainly remember that reference. Thanks!

The Osprey books are really cool. I have one on Troy 1700-1250 BC and it's awesome too. And while looking over the page in the link, I saw there was another book about Aztec, Mixtec, and Zapotec armies, and it looked cool too.

By the way, your B-day presents should be arriving any day now. They gave me a delivery estimate of November 29th.

Thanks, Cindy!

Well, this started out a single novel but after I started writing, I saw it was going to be up into the 300k range. So I decided to divide it into two books, and these word counts are for just that first book. I do intend to cut the word count down as much as I can in rewrite. I tend to write really long in first drafts.
