I got back last night. It was a nice couple of days, visiting with the grandparents, my dad and stepmom, and my brother and his wife. We took the kids to the beach to hunt for sea shells and Dana found a small sand dollar, and she was very excited about that. Yesterday on the way to the airport, we took a brief detour through Beverly Hills and Hollywood, and I finally got to see the sign; I've actually lived in California (in San Diego) for several years when I was a kid, but I don't recall having ever seen the Hollywood sign until now. It's really kind of annoying how people on the roads there are always in such a big hurry, driving like lunatics, and I can't count the number of times we were honked at for doing the speed limit or even slightly above. That would drive me crazy if I lived there (though I suppose after a while I'd become assimilated to their ways.).
So, there's much to do this week. I received one rejection while I was gone, from Heliotrope, a quick two days. Glad to see them keeping up on top of the slush these days. So I need to look for somewhere to send that story now. I also got my rewrite notes from RoF and looks like all good, doable changes. My latest One World story did very good in the LH polish challenge voting, winning the Best Characterization catagory and tying for Best Polish and Narrative. The overwhelming consensus though is that that ending has got to go. I have an idea of what to do now though, and I'm going to be axing a minor character (who never really quite developed fully anyway.). I'm a bit jetlagged so will probably kill part of the my writing time taking a nap.
But it's good to be back.

Let's see, I sent "The Music Box" to ASIM and spent the rest of the day working on my rewrite. I think I've covered most of the points brought up in the notes, though there's still one to do tomorrow, then I'll let it sit for the remainder of the week and come back to it next week, to see if I still like the new section I added. Overall a pretty productive day.
