I'm a complete slackass. The will to write has abandoned me for a while but I don't think it's all that bad to take a break from it. I don't ever feel like I NEED to take a break from writing, because I enjoy doing it way too much, but sometimes it good to do other things instead, to clear out the staleness accumulating from too much time spent in my imaginary worlds.
Right now instead of writing, I'm watching Buffy. I purchased the last two seasons on DVD and I'm about halfway through the last season right now. I missed the last season when it was on TV, so this is all new for me. I like the lack of commercials. I'm spoiled by it. I don't really like watching normal television now because the interuption of commercials peeves me.
Today is Dana's last day of kindergarten and I'm going to attend a little last day celebration in about a half hour. The lack of letter grading at this level has me a bit mystified about how Dana REALLY is doing in school. I know what A,B,C,D, & F all mean, but here they're using AG (Above grade level), G (Grade Level), and BG (Below Grade Level) along with a bunch of numbers that go with descriptions that make little sense. Dana scored BG on two subjects though according to her numbers under them she was listed as at grade level on most things (in one subject she even improved a number since last report card, when she's been said to be at grade level, but was scored a BG this time.). I don't understand how she can score BG on half her subjects and still be passed. We're going to work with her on those subjects (writing and math) over the summer, try to help her get up to speed so she does bomb it in first grade. I'll be much less confused about all this once she gets to a grade level high enough to warrant actual letter grades.
